Wendy won a design competition to gain this commission for railings to a newly pedestrianised area in the center of Reading, to protect people from the buses still allowed through the junction. The crossroads was set out in the form of a 'bulls eye', with the archery theme chosen, as it was an important industry in medieval times. The railing bars were forged in 50mmm wide 'feather edge' drawn down to a taper each end and notches forged centrally to represent the grip. Fine twisted reinforcement bar was threaded through the 'bows', as were the forged arrows. The slotted and banded newel posts represented the quivers.
